Between The Lines
So I went to the vigil, after all my comments. I didn't go because I love Muslims. I didn't go because I want waves of refugees. I went to show support for the victims. I went becauae they are people. I went to stand against the violence against people of faith. I went, surrounded by liberals I'm sure, to condemn the tragedy. |

Demons Again
On another note, I learned some weeks ago that Fr. Gabriele Amorth passed away sometime in September of 2016. I haven't read all his books yet, but I enjoy them. I was surprised by An Exorcist Tells His Story. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it and it was insightful.

To Prayer or Not to Prayer
I don't often tell people that I'm praying for somebody. It's not that I don't believe in the power of prayer. I do. There's a fear on my part that because my faith is weak, the person will become discouraged when the prayer fails. |

Wrong Plane
Some people just don't understand the difference between right and wrong, like when the PM took a private plane to a lobbyist's private island; what is wrong about getting on to a plane? Planes aren't bad. He claimed that he didn't see anything wrong with taking the trip. This is why we need to have objective ethical standards; because, there are people out there who can't tell what is wrong. He can't see the conflict of interest. There is a reason that a member of parliament can't accept gifts. There is a reason it's not ethical. Even if there is no expectation to reciprocate, even if their judgement is not affected, there must be no appearance of it being possible and no question of it being able to happen. Caesar's wife must not simply be above reproach. Caesar's wife must appear to be above reproach.

Spent
I've been exhausted after work, not tired, spent. I have no energy, drained. I'm falling asleep on the couch. These long hours are getting to me. |

Vestry
And another thing! If you really believe that assimilation and loss of culture is so wrong, why do you fight so hard to remove Christmas trees from public places?

I abstained from voting on the Versry resolution supporting the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. I have yet to read this declaration in full.
The reason that I didn't vote on the resolution to support the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous people is that there wasn't enough information available. Anyway, it passed with almost unanimous support. Not only was the resolution not included in the Vestry agenda and sprung on us, it refered to another document that nobody had read and that wasn't attached. The resolution called for, in part, the parish to actively lobby the municipal government to supoort the UN resolution. My fear is that this UN declaration will further alienate, segregate, and marginalize indigenous people. I belive that reserves are the worst thing for indigenous people. They are prisons. And, we can't plow under the cities of North America and send the White and Black people back to Europe and Africa respectively. Reserves also promote socialism and economic stagnation. The people of reserves, like the people of any welfare state, tend to advocate for more welfare. I'm all for local control and the decentralization of power, but indigenous people need to be part of our society, fully integrated--not assimilated--into a mosaic society in which they participate as equals, not equals with privileges. So, we passed a resolution that we didn't understand. Just like people of years past, who implemented the residential schools, we have made a decision regarding indigenous people because we know what's best for them. |
Good Person
I'm not going to Church because I'm a good person. Going to Church doesn't make me a good person. I'm not going to Church to become a good person. I'm going to Church to worship God. |
Women
Rather than complain about the perpetually offended as I was planning, I'd like to point out that it was the women who stayed with Christ. It was the women who found the empty tomb. |
Now I'm dreaming!
I had some really wild dreams last night and I also slept like crap. I had a very sore back, probably from starting the Zen 200 Pushup Challenge. So, my dreams were these: In the first dream, a friend and I were working downtown and I wanted to show them St. Paul's. I opened a door to a room and our last Rector was having a women only meeting; in the second dream, there was a zombie apocalypse. We left the house. I took all the rifles and tried to put all the ammo in my front left pocket. I found a house for us to spend the night barricaded inside. In the morning a group of loud drunk idiots showed up, attracting zombies and we were on the run again. I only fired one cartridge in the whole dream, killing a zombie with the .30-30; the third and final dream I can't remember now. |

What was going on in the story of the woman with great faith?
Did Habakkuk Foretell America's Might?
How would you know?
I think I'm asleep right now. Have you ever practiced lucid dreaming or dream control? I'm at Walmart in Brantford and I keep seeing my dream sigil/totem all over the store. How would you know if you were awake?

P.S. We, as citizens, have to take executive and quasi-judicial powers from the RCMP. They are police; they should be enforcing the law, not deciding what it is.

Minds Do Not Understand
I [not me myself but a common belief amoung many] don't need God.
Many monks believe that if you do someting good, you must do it without complaining. I think it may be in St. Benedict's Rule.
Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

Read, Relax, Destress, Recharge
I spent many peaceful enriching hours in this little pink chair at St. Gregory's Abbey. My only interruption was the monastery worship schedule and meals, peace, solitude, quiet, study. |

Jesus In Today's Old Testament Readings Again: How can this not be speaking about Jesus? It's so messianic!
Listen to me, O coastlands, pay attention, you peoples from far away! The Lord called me before I was born, while I was in my mother's womb he named me. He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away. And he said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified." But I said, "I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my cause is with…

The three wise men did bring Him gifts. He did receive gold. He did deliver the needy. And, His name is praised. Forever may it be praised!
72:10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.72:12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.72:14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.72:15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.72:17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. |

MAD
I can see why people drink and drive. New Year's Eve, I had five to six drinks, and I felt fine. I felt unusually good. If not for my rule, I may have driven. |
