7 Things God Hates

Pastor Price on TV again Sunday morning talked about the seven things that God hates.

6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Speculation on Sin

I thought about how to word this post for over two weeks, how I would articulate it to communicate the concept. Were I a wordsmith that I might craft the perfect paragraph that would accomplish my goal (this is actually the second draft as Microsoft Windows actually f@$king restarted my laptop just before I posted).

So, here I will try to do so.  Jesus said that we couldn't serve to masters without loving one and hating the other.  If these two masters are sin and God, we'd be alright if we would grow to hate sin.  However, more often sin drives a wedge into our relationship with God.  But, Jesus said that His yoke was easy; He didn't want us to follow a lot of rules.  Jesus even rebuked the religious leaders of His time for burdening the people with the weight of many rules that were hard to follow.  However, sin can only be our master in the first place if we resubmit to the law.  If we don't put ourselves back under the law, we are not a slave to sin.  We have already been put right with God through Jesus' sacrifice; why would we try to earn our own salvation by following impossible rules (submitting to the law)?  Everything is acceptable.

P.S. Maybe God restarted my laptop to change the wording of something I shouldn't have written.  I believe in the hand of God.

A Truth

There are things women can do to lessen their odds of attack.  I know that people get up in arms when you appear to blame the victim.  Women should be able to walk the streets dressed how ever they want in our society.  Yes, I and you should be able to run naked in front of a wolf's den with a T-bone steak tied to your @$$ without anybody stopping you; but, it's going to increase your odds of something bad happening.  And, I lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of the perpetrator.  But, there are steps that a woman can take to lessen those odds.  e.g. not walking down an unlit street/alley late at night, not being alone, not (here's were I get the flak) dressing in a provocative or un-modest way.  Should women have to?  No.

Wage Gap

I have noticed that corporate advertising has started to try to cash in in the idea of existing wage inequality.  It's an untruth that has been pushed to promote a political agenda and is divisive and self serving.  I've posted this video before, but here it is again to explain how they arrive at the numbers.

A Truth

Just as there are still male chauvinistic pigs--mostly in the closet,  there are ball bashing estrogen raging misandrists.  The difference is that one is socially acceptable.

I'm noticing muscle tightness and soreness, aside from my planter facetious and Police Education running injury, and a few gray hairs.

A Truth

Not everybody is equal.   That begin said, it is the crowning acheivement of society that all people are free and treated equal.   It's paramount.  But, they're not all equal.   Individuals,  and--yes--peoples are not equal.  And, sometimes that's a good thing.  We all, as individuals have our strengths and weaknesses.  I love baseball, but I suck at it.  I am a poor public speaker.  I'm quite loyal and honest.  Men are stronger than women,  and women are tougher.  People from Portugal are generally very hard workers.   I admire the Chinese and Italian comunities for preserving their rich cultures so well.  People of African desent are generally very good athletes.  Asians are often of higher intelligence.   We can compliment each other.  All of this is both true and dangerous to state.  But, we are all not equal.  However, we should all be treated equal.

"It is what it is," is such a stupid thing to say.   "No shit.  Well it can't be, 'it is what it isn't.'"

I love to beat a dead horse, but why do non-Christians constantly tell me that I believe that everybody is going to Hell?

14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.14:18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.14:20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

When Jesus said that we must eat His flesh, it was a hard teaching that many of His followers stumbled because of. The leaders of the faith plotted against Him to kill Him.

27:2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.27:12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

Jesus Was Here

22:24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.22:26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.22:29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.22:31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Wow Again

18:8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.18:7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.18:9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.18:10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.18:11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.18:12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.18:13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.18:14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.18:15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

Sang this Psalm today in Evening Prayer, wow. Scary stuff.

7:12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.7:13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.7:12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.7:13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

If Money is the Root of All Evil, Why Does the Church Always Ask For Money?

Thank you for asking. Please allow me the opportunity to reply:
  • Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all evil. e.g. putting the acquisition on money before the needs of family members or making an ethical decision as to how it is obtained. You're saying it wrong Balky Bartokomouse.
  • Money is useful for paying for Church building repairs and for paying for heat and electricity.

Fw: Easter Sunday Sermon

Yup, it made sense;  I was following.  I forgot how you used the there for Grandma part.   I have to admit that I cringed a bit, surrounded by all those BC&Ers.  But, it was explained well.  And, the idea that once we are in a relationship with God we can not be lost is both comforting and burden lifting.  We don't have to earn salvation.

My dad used to say that it's as though you're out for dinner, and when the bill comes you can't find your wallet.  Just as you think you're going to have to wash dishes or worse, the waiter tells you that it's okay.  The Man at the table across the dinning room has paid your bill for you.

I have taken comfort in St. Thomas' doubt and the fact that Jesus didn't let St. Peter drown, both as I have struggled with my own faith and also as I've failed to live up to the example set for me.    It is reassuring.

Take care.

Pax,
