That's All

This concludes the 7 penitential Psalms.  Have a fulfilling and deeply meaningful Lent.  Pax

Psalm 143 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 143 GNT

Lord, hear my prayer! In your righteousness listen to my plea; answer me in your faithfulness! Don't put me, your servant, on trial; no one is innocent in your sight. My enemies have hunted me down and completely defeated me. They have put me in a dark prison, and I am like those who died long ago. So I am ready to give up; I am in deep despair. I remember the days gone by; I think about all that you have done, I bring to mind all your deeds. I lift up my hands to you in prayer…

Psalm 130 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 130 GNT

From the depths of my despair I call to you, Lord. Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help! If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned? But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you. I wait eagerly for the Lord's help, and in his word I trust. I wait for the Lord more eagerly than sentries wait for the dawn— than sentries wait for the dawn. Israel, trust in the Lord, because his love is constant and he is always willing to save. He…

Psalm 102 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 102 GNT

Listen to my prayer, O Lord, and hear my cry for help! When I am in trouble, don't turn away from me! Listen to me, and answer me quickly when I call! My life is disappearing like smoke; my body is burning like fire. I am beaten down like dry grass; I have lost my desire for food. I groan aloud; I am nothing but skin and bones. I am like a wild bird in the desert, like an owl in abandoned ruins. I lie awake; I am like a lonely bird on a housetop. All day long my enemies insult…

Psalm 51 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 51 GNT

Be merciful to me, O God, because of your constant love. Because of your great mercy wipe away my sins! Wash away all my evil and make me clean from my sin! I recognize my faults; I am always conscious of my sins. I have sinned against you—only against you— and done what you consider evil. So you are right in judging me; you are justified in condemning me. I have been evil from the day I was born; from the time I was conceived, I have been sinful. Sincerity and truth are what…

Psalm 38 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 38 GNT

O Lord, don't punish me in your anger! You have wounded me with your arrows; you have struck me down. Because of your anger, I am in great pain; my whole body is diseased because of my sins. I am drowning in the flood of my sins; they are a burden too heavy to bear. Because I have been foolish, my sores stink and rot. I am bent over, I am crushed; I mourn all day long. I am burning with fever and I am near death. I am worn out and utterly crushed; my heart is troubled, and I…

Psalm 32 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 32 GNT

Happy are those whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned. Happy is the one whom the Lord does not accuse of doing wrong and who is free from all deceit. When I did not confess my sins, I was worn out from crying all day long. Day and night you punished me, Lord; my strength was completely drained, as moisture is dried up by the summer heat. Then I confessed my sins to you; I did not conceal my wrongdoings. I decided to confess them to you, and you forgave all my sins.…

Psalm 6 GNT from Bible Gateway

Psalm 6 GNT

Lord, don't be angry and rebuke me! Don't punish me in your anger! I am worn out, O Lord; have pity on me! Give me strength; I am completely exhausted     and my whole being is deeply troubled. How long, O Lord, will you wait to help me? Come and save me, Lord; in your mercy rescue me from death. In the world of the dead you are not remembered; no one can praise you there. I am worn out with grief; every night my bed is damp from my weeping; my pillow is soaked with tears. I can…

7 Penitential Psalms

Even though it's Holy Week, it's not Easter yet; in the spirit of Lent, I thought I'd post the 7 penitential Psalms.

Socialism Again

Socialism isn't about helping people; it's about getting liberals elected.  And, it doesn't help them; it creates dependency...which in turn ensures liberals continue to get elected.

Bigot? Again?

Can we be Christian and not judgmental?  Certainly not by society's standards, to believe in one god to the exclusion of all others is akin to some kind of racism.  If you belong to a polytheistic faith, then this is my god and this is your god and everything is good.  If you belong to a monotheistic faith with a belief in one true god, and that you are to worship no other, then you are closed minded.  Going back to my 11th commandment, I'd like to state that I'm not advocating for restrictions on how people worship (or who)?  All I'm saying is that I believe in one true God to the exclusion of all others, for me.  Me.  And, if that makes me a bigot...so be it.  Pax

"Jesus answered him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me.'" John 14:6 (Good News Version)

Hair Shirt

I was reading about the monks at the Charterhouse in England.  The monks wear a hair shirt as part of their discipline, designed to be irritating.  Dom Damian mused that he was another hair in Dom Philip's shirt.  I guess we are all hairs to others.  ...and should try to be less so.

40

The ancient followers of Zoroastrianism believed that at 40 you reached physical perfection.  That, when you died and went to heaven you were 40.  I had trouble with 30, more so with 40.  All I can think about are things like 40 being the rough age where reflexes slow, muscle mass starts to wane, eyesight starts to deteriorate.  I think of the unfulfilled goals, not unattainable, and the regrets.  Often I think, "what has God called me to do?"  Often I desire to make a difference.

Snuff

Lucky for me that He will not snuff out the wick.  My wick deserves snuffing.

The 11th Commandment

There should have been an 11th Commandment:  Thou Shalt Leave Them The F@#k alone.  It fits in with The Summery of the Law.  Do you like being constantly tormented?  No?  Then leave them the f@#k alone.  Social Engineers:  Remember this!

Whole Lot of Rosie

Women bemoaning the young girls not knowing who Rosie the Riveter is:  Welcome to my world; this generation doesn't appreciate the sacrifices of any who have gone before them.  we've seen this with war vets for decades.  Welcome to the club.  Liberals, remember this the next time you push revisionist history.
