So, I asked AI why the word woman was added to 2 Peter 1:21. It replied:
AI Overview
The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) translates 2 Peter 1:21 to include the word "women" (specifically"...men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God")
as part of its effort to use gender-inclusive or gender-accurate language.I change the language of my prayers, to be inclusive; and, I'm okay with that. On page 57 of the BCP, I change the words Thou who knowest each man's need to the words Thou who knowest each one's need to be inclusive. But, that's just a prayer book. I'm not big on changing scripture.
The word γυνή is not in οὐ γὰρ θελήματι ἀνθρώπου ἠνέχθη [a]προφητεία ποτέ, ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ πνεύματος ἁγίου φερόμενοι ἐλάλησαν [b]ἀπὸ θεοῦ ἄνθρωποι.
So, what we have here is the translators bowing to the social pressures of the world, and changing scripture. I'm reminded of the passage to be in the world but not of the world.
Have you ever head of The Ship of Theseus Paradox? And, how is this any better than the Jehovah's Witnesses changing John 1:1 by adding the word like so that their Bible says what they want it to say? If we start changing scripture, is it the same Bible?
Am I crazy? Am I seeing enemies where their aren't any?
